ACCESSIBILITY
STATEMENT.
Our Commitment
Shadow is committed to ensuring that shdw.com is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of this website in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
We view digital accessibility as an operational requirement, not a checkbox. The same standard of precision we apply to protection programs governs how we build and maintain this site.
Scope
This statement applies to all pages published at shdw.com and its subpaths, including the Events, Fractional CSO, SHDW App, Team, Press, and legal pages.
What We Have Done
As of the date of this statement, accessibility measures implemented across the full site include:
- Skip navigation link on every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass repeated navigation
- Semantic landmark structure using
<main>,<nav>, and<footer>elements on all pages - Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements, meeting the WCAG 2.4.13 focus appearance requirement
- Custom cursor deactivated for keyboard-only and non-mouse users, preserving system cursor visibility
- All form inputs programmatically associated with visible labels via
for/idattributes - Decorative images and icon SVGs marked with
aria-hidden="true" - Autoplay ambient videos marked as decorative and excluded from the accessibility tree
- Descriptive link text and
aria-labelattributes on icon-only links - Color contrast ratios meeting or exceeding the 4.5:1 AA minimum for all body text
- Logical heading hierarchy maintained across all pages
- Reduced motion support via
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query - Minimum touch target size of 24×24 CSS pixels on all interactive controls
- Consistent help mechanism available on every page (contact link in footer)
- Language attribute (
lang="en") declared on all pages - Descriptive page titles on all pages
Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas where we continue to improve:
- YouTube social link: The YouTube footer icon currently links to a placeholder. It has been removed from keyboard tab order until a live channel is published.
- Dynamic city map: The global operations city slideshow on the Events page uses a JavaScript-driven SVG map. We have added ARIA live regions for screen reader announcement of city changes and continue to evaluate enhanced map accessibility.
- Third-party embeds: Some podcast and video links direct to third-party platforms (Apple Podcasts, Latakoo) whose own accessibility conformance is outside our direct control.
We are actively working to resolve these limitations and will update this statement as improvements are made.
Technical Approach
shdw.com is a static HTML website served via Netlify. Accessibility is implemented directly in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — no framework, plugin, or overlay is used. We follow a code-level approach because overlays do not reliably solve accessibility barriers and can interfere with assistive technologies.
Our global accessibility stylesheet (accessibility.css) and companion script (accessibility.js) are loaded on every page and address focus management, cursor behavior, contrast, and ARIA semantics at the document level.

If you encounter a page or feature on shdw.com that you cannot access, or if you find content that is not accessible, please contact us. We take every report seriously and will respond within 48 hours with either a fix, a workaround, or a timeline for resolution.

Enforcement
Shadow is a private entity subject to Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
